Affirmations are positive statements that individuals write or repeat to foster a constructive mindset, promoting self-empowerment and optimism. Often centered around personal development or specific goals, affirmations aim to cultivate a more optimistic and empowered mindset.
Affirmations app
Affirmations serve as a powerful tool for personal growth and positive thinking. With an app devoted to crafting and sharing affirmations, users can immerse themselves in sessions, discover others' affirmations, edit and save them for future reflection. The app also sends occasional affirmations through notifications, fostering a continuous and uplifting engagement with its users.
We aimed to boost user engagement by introducing extra screens and features, encouraging users to interact with the app more frequently.
The research
Initially, to identify features that would boost user engagement with the app, we arranged a design sprint day. This involved Zoom calls with users who were invited to share insights about their experiences with the app—discussing how they used it, their preferences, dislikes, and the features they wished to see integrated into the app.
We found out that users enjoyed watching sessions. They appreciated the ability to share affirmations with others and enjoy receiving notifications with affirmations.
Based on those user interviews, the most frequently highlighted requests were:
More saving options for sharing affirmations.
More sharing capabilities outside the app.
Additional design choices and the ability to incorporate personal background photos when editing affirmations.
"I love seeing others' affirmations and not copy pasting their exact affirmation but rather use it as inspiration to write my own original one"
The design
Initially, I redesigned the affirmation screen, added new buttons for sharing, saving, and a like button (to encourage users to write more affirmations).
Saving Others' Affirmations:
In the previous flow, if a user came across an affirmation they liked and wanted to save, they had to navigate through the "edit" option before finally being able to press "save" and add it to their affirmations list. There should be a more direct option to save without the need to go through the "edit" step.
In the updated design, I integrated a bookmark button that enables users to effortlessly save affirmations to various collections they've created, as well as create new collections for saving. Upon completion, users receive a confirmation message indicating that the affirmation has been successfully saved to the chosen collection.
Now, suppose the user wishes to remove that affirmation from their collection, or add to another collection. This can be achieved through the bookmark button as well.

My collections
The "My Collections" screen is meant to allow users to browse collections, watch sessions, edit, and download content for offline viewing.

Write and design an affirmation:
In the previous version, there was a single white font in the old flow. The only design element available was the background, with users choosing from a set of predefined options. In the redesigned affirmation edit screen, I introduced a range of design options for text, including fonts, colors, and backgrounds.
Furthermore, users will have the capability to upload images from their devices to use as backgrounds for their affirmations.

Enhanced Sharing Choices:
In the previous version, users could only share affirmations on WhatsApp and Instagram. In the updated version, my goal was to streamline the sharing process by providing more accessible options for sharing on various social media platforms.
Furthermore, users will have the ability to save the affirmation to their device or generate a shareable link, enhancing the versatility of the sharing experience.
